Commissioned by Getty images as part of a graduate consultancy project, their Make Your Mark brief was about designing a new window display for their UK flag offices in central London. Using Getty's photography collection and working with the the creative team, I researched creative and editorial images as well as video footage that would make an interesting and captivating window display visual. The proposed concept aims to provide visuals for a window display that sparks discussion, that makes people take a second look and think about the images, question their relationship and wonder about their meaning.

Part of this years context work, was writing a research report about books, people and ideas that relate to the subject of our dissertation. I am writing about grids and why they are used as a way of organizing information - from page layouts to maps and cities planning. The research was mostly about Modernism so having written the report, I designed it keeping that in mind, as well as it is a piece of work about grids.

Working together as an experimental hybrid multi-media team, Anomalous Visuals combines photography, lighting digital manipulation, moving image and animation to produce a uniquely varied set of expressive outcomes and visual anomalies . They run a project called ALT AV, where they ask for creative interpretations of their AV logo. A few days after the degree show, they got in touch asking if I wanted to take part in the project by submitting my version. I worked on the theme of ‘urban nostalgia’ using a black and white image of my hometown I had shot years ago and a second one made for a different project, but never used.

"Retaining the sequence of streets in the direction to your house is memory. Seeing these streets in your mind's eye as you speak is cognitive mapping."

This was the second part in a series of self initiated projects that examined the relationship between cities and how people experience, navigate and remember them. Part of the Cognitive Mapping project, was to try and understand how people represent the world around them and what they choose to put in their cognitive map – the representation in your mind of the objects and locations in an environment. In an attempt to visualize these maps, I asked some of my course mates to tell me what they remember from that two-minute walk from the tube station to CSM. Their memories in form of replies provided the data for creating the layers of Cognitive Mapping.

Printing on acetate and using acrylic frames, the final outcome has a sense of depth and a transparent effect, a link to the notion of layers. By taking a frame - layer out and holding it - almost like retrieving a memory - people can read each person's map; the frames feel quite solid and heavy, a reference to the gravity of memories.

On March, Wieden+Kennedy set up a contest, in order to get 6 european creatives for their offices in Amsterdam. The applicants had to create an answer to the question What does the future look like? I created mine based on five possible scenarios and designed a simple layout with emphasis on typography.

Answering a way-finding project, I suggested a re-design of the signage system of the Southampton Row Building of Central Saint Martins. The ideal solution would allow information to 'follow the user', rather than stay static on signs or stands. The final outcome is an iPhone way-finding application called CSMApp that works in two ways: as a course information finder and as a way-finding system, providing clear and easy to use directions. I've also designed a manual to familiarise users with the applications and its functions.
